LT Scott McMurtry, Paddy's Gang, 1983-1985
Ai-yi-yi! I'm setting new records for slow postings. Here's news from Scott McMurtry, who I just barely missed when I arrived in Baumholder. We bumped into each other years ago through the 1/39 Infantry Mortar Platoon mafia.

From Scott:
Matt--
I was going through your web beacon and noticed you were looking for information about SFC Rick Williams and SSG Danny Lee.
First of all, you ought to know that my hometown is Columbia, TN and SSG Lee's is Cookeville, TN. Columbia's about 50 miles south of Nashville, Cookeville's about 60 miles east. In May 1994, I ran into SSG Lee at a gas station outside of Knoxville. He was stationed in the New York City area as a recruiter. He had divorced the wife he had in Baumholder and remarried. Sadly, he was still a staff sergeant. 11C was a hard MOS to make rank in.
SFC Rick Williams is a police officer in Nashville. I think he was the oldest rookie cop in the history of law enforcement. Since I'm an Assistant District Attorney, I see him from time to time. I don't know if you knew Rick, but aside from some gray hair, he hasn't changed much. Actually, he has a lot of gray hair and reminds me of J. Jonah Jameson of the SpiderMan comics.
Go ahead and add me to the roster. I came to C Co in December 83. Was there until December 84 when I went to the S-3 shop as a liason officer for REFORGER. Got 4.2 about May of 1985, and stayed there until I went back to the States in November.
Keep up the good work.
AAAO,
Scott
