SGT Arthur J. Fryer, Bravo Co 1977-1980

Here's some fresh news from Artie Fryer, who's been in touch via the web beacon and the 8th ID Yahoo Group -- I've drawn some words together from a couple of different emails and posts, with apologies if I messed anything up:
I was in bravo company, in 2nd platoon then weapons platoon, from Sept 19, 1977 to Sept 26, 1980 and would love to make contact with guys from that time who were in B company or anyone from that time who remembers me.

I was SGT Fryer when I left there.

I'm looking for richard johnson also known as little rock and ssg dwight attaway who I last saw in Ft mccllen alabama.

I remember sfc mapp, sgt andrews, ssg attaway and capt bertoff and capt noe. Also remember lt williams our platoon leader and lt clements who was out of west point. I also remember a couple of friends by nickname, little rock and red. I hope I can make contact with anyone who remembers and maybe get some names they remember like hoyle who was a big guy with redish hair.

If anyone recognizes any of these names please contact me. Thanks.

Once i was drunk and the guys hung me out the window from the 3rd floor and it scared the hell out of me when I woke up and saw only the sky. Another time we were doing lake crossing with our apc and when i drove ours into the water it started to sink cause the mechanic didn't put the belly plate back on after doing a pm on it in the field. I also was involved with the retracing the units war route when I was there all the way to Luxembourg with a few guys. I also remember when they gave us the flu shot in dec 1978 at hhq in the basement and I ended up with the flu and the guys had to take me to the infirmary.

If any one remembers please email me at arthurfryer2beking@yahoo.com or contact me at 352-503-2569. I live now in lecanto fl.

OK, Artie, and thanks to you for writing in.

I certainly hear you on swimming the APCs. Every time we got one of those things near the water, the plugs started to mysteriously disappear. I expect there are a couple of ponds around Baumholder which are filled with sunken M-113s.

OK, gentlemen, you know what to do -- send a note if you were there and remember any of these fellows. Artie also suggested that it might be an idea to update contact details listed on the various posts (remembering that I've already had one computer meltdown and am having some hard disc troubles even as I type).

AAAO!

Hello, Robert - how about sending (or adding) an email address? I'll see if I can link you up with some of the vets from back around 1980.

Thanks

Matt
