SSG Matthew Gram, Scout Platoon 1984 - 1987

I shared a few emails back and forth with SSG Matthew Gram, who was in Baumholder at the same time I was. Just down the hall from Four Deuce, with the Scout Platoon. Here's part of a message from him:
Hello. Yes, I know these guys your referring to. I have tried to look some of the guys in the Scout platoon, to no avail. I'll keep trying. I can remember SFC Johnson, Sgt McReynolds, Sgt Hunter, Sgt Gomez, as I go along I will remember more names. From there I was sent to Fort Knox and went to Drill Sergeant School. There I ran into Sgt Hunter. I also ran into SFC Johnson there as well. After that, I was sent to Desert Storm, then back to Germany. Was stationed at Friedberg Germany as Scout Platoon Sergeant, promoted to SFC, then back to Fort Knox, became a senior instructor at the Scout Platoon Leaders Course, retired from there in December 1998 with just over 20 years.

39th Infantry Regiment in WWI

Here's a useful link for the history buffs among us:

http://www.archive.org/details/historyof39thusi00colerich

Before reading this, I had absolutely no idea that the 39th Infantry Regiment was also posted to the Moselle Region as part of the occupying forces after the First World War, as well as the Second World war.

p.s. If you're new to the Web Beacon and haven't already written in, you can add your name to the roster now!
