Carl J. Grossman, 39th Infantry, 1952-1955

Here's some very cool news from Carl Grossman, who served with the unit down in Furth during the 1950s. I'm always excited to hear from guys who were there during those times; it's remarkable how much Germany had changed between their service days and own. Mind you, it was thirty years difference!

Quick details below. I have Carl's email, so -- as usual -- "let me know".
Carl J. Grossman

Alpha Company, 1st Platoon

Departed 2/55

Carl J Grossman was my good buddy

Things I remember,

Alert to airfield, 3 days next to C119 with parachutes then back to barracks with no explanation, found out later they were thinking of dropping us on Dien Bien Phu

Whole company sent to Antibes, France for a week to march in 11th anniversary of landings in Southern France.

Grunner Brau, Hohenfels, night marches, and my rebel friends, Captain "Cold Steel" Smith

Hey, Dave, thanks for posting! Very cool to hear from you. I haven't heard from Carl for ten years or so, but will post his details here just in case you want to reach out:

I've seen photos of our guys suited up for jump duty, but do I understand correctly that the 39th Infantry was an Airborne unit in the early/mid-1950s? Please leave a note here or email me at matthewginn@gmail.com

Thanks
