Jon Le Beau, Bravo Co 1/39 Inf, 1983-1985

I received the briefest of messages from Jon Le Beau, who served with Paddy's Gang back in the 80s. He was with Bravo Co 1/39th Infantry during 1983-1985. I do have Jon's email address, so drop a line if you'd like to get in touch.

Lee Swain, 1965-1966

I've had some interesting correspondence from Lee Swain (who you may know as Leebuck). He was with Paddy's Gang in the 60s, served as a Sergeant in the Weapons Platoon back in Worms. Here's some news from him, along with a stack of photos.  And there's more photos here.  I've also got his email address, so drop a line if you'd like me to put you in touch.
I spent 1 year 9 months 4 days in Germany, arrived in July of 1964, departed May of 1966. I was discharged May 24 1966.

Worms was a great place to serve, had a good time there, learned a lot about life, just being out of high school. We did have our share of accidents. I swam # 44 twice.

I drove a M113 APC # 44 for the 81 MM mortar squad. I pulled the ammunition trailer for the platoon most of the time. After I made SGT E5 I took over a 106 recoilless rifle squad.

I did some training in Baumholder, I do remember that it was cool up there, but the beer was good, night life was better in Worms.

I entered the Army on May 29 1963, went to Fort Knox for basic training, then to Fort Hood. There I was with 1/41 mechanized infantry, 2nd armored division (Hell On Wheels), drove an M59 APC. Was there when President Kennedy was assassinated.

I made two trips to Germany. The first was Operation Big Lift (October 22 1963 thru November 21 1963), flew over from Fort Hood TX and back. Then in May of 1964 participated in Operation Desert Strike in the Mojave desert. When we got back from the desert I had orders to return to Germany ( Worms ).
I did not take part in the move to Baumholder, I think I was one of the last to leave from Worms. I stayed behind in the orderly room when that took place, if I remember right.
