Gene Lumpkin, 81mm Mortars, Charlie Co 1/39 Inf 1972-1974
News today from Gene Lumpkin, who was an 11 Charlie in the 39th Infantry Regiment back at the end of the Viet Nam war. I've heard things were tough for GIs in Germany in the early '70s, but Gene seems to remember it well:
I served in a 81mm mortar section in Weapons Plt, Co. C, 1st Bn/39th Inf Reg from Jan 1972 - July 1974. Based in Baumholder, I made a lot of good friends during my service in Paddy's Gang and wonder if anyone remembers me. Everyone called me Gene.I am 57 y.o. now (11/2011) and still live in Tennessee. I am the Founder and CEO of ISR Group. You can see a picture of me on our website isrgroup.com on the "About Us " page. We are all getting older and just curious if anyone who knows me is still around.
